Gideon Tax exists because most people should not have to choose between a $500 preparer and a $0 product that is quietly selling their data. The plan is for it to become free as its development costs are recovered — tax is tollware: you pay to cross the bridge while it is being built, and then the bridge is open.

Keep is the part that stays paid, and it is the part we think matters most over a lifetime. Tax forms are temporary — lines move, schemas change, forms get renumbered. The people, businesses, relationships, documents and tax attributes underneath them are durable. Keep models the durable reality first, so that after five years a customer has something substantially more useful than five folders of returns.

We are small on purpose and opinionated on purpose. We do not collect sensitive information because it might someday be useful. We do not give tax advice without credentials. We do not lock your history inside Gideon. And we never let convenience weaken the boundaries around taxpayer data.
