What we collect
Only what has a defensible tax purpose: your account and contact details; the identity, relationship, entity and vehicle records you give us or that Gideon Tax hands back; the tax documents you upload and Gideon's structured interpretation of them; your confirmations and corrections; year-specific facts and durable tax attributes with their history; and the provenance and audit history of all of the above. Especially sensitive identifiers are separated or tokenized and kept out of routine logs. Standard product analytics, with no third-party trackers inside the app.
What we never do
- Sell your data, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- Use your tax records to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.
- Read your documents for anything beyond the tax interpretation you asked for.
- Give an AI system, an employee or a partner broader access than the task needs.
Your rights
- Export your structured records, attributes and carryforward histories, Gideon's interpretations, and copies of your raw documents, in a documented form.
- See the provenance and audit history of your records inside the product.
- Request correction of any field we hold about you — corrections are recorded beside the original, not over it.
- Close your account and delete customer-owned data where legally and operationally permitted.
Retention, honestly
Retention differs between customer-owned Keep data, records Gideon must retain as an e-file provider or preparer, filing logs, compliance records and payment records. Closing a Keep subscription does not always permit deleting every record Gideon is legally required to keep. We will tell you which is which.
Subpoenas and legal requests
We notify you of any subpoena, warrant or government request for your data unless legally prohibited, and produce only the minimum scope required.
Where data lives
United States hosting only. See the security commitments for how it is protected.
