What Gideon Keep is

Gideon Keep is recordkeeping software. It helps you organize tax documents, log income and expenses, track mileage and vehicles, keep up with deadlines, and hand off clean records to your tax preparer (Gideon Tax, a separate product, or your CPA or EA).

What Gideon Keep is not

Gideon Keep is not a tax preparer. It does not prepare or file returns. Nothing you see in the product or on this site is tax, legal, accounting, financial, or investment advice. We do not advise you on what to claim, how to characterize income, or what position to take on a return.

Any text in the product that suggests an expense "may be deductible," a form "is likely needed," or a deadline "applies to you" is informational — based on your records and general IRS guidance — and must be confirmed by a credentialed preparer or inside Gideon Tax at filing time.

Human Support is not tax advice

Our Human Support tier ($80/hour) is help operating the product and triaging your situation toward a credentialed preparer. It is not tax advice. Support staff are trained not to take tax positions on your behalf. If you need an opinion on a tax question, we will refer you to a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or attorney.

The readiness score

The "tax-readiness score" displayed in Gideon Keep is a checklist of records we believe most filers need before filing. It is not a guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or audit safety. It does not predict your refund, your tax owed, or your audit risk. Every score component is visible to you — please review the breakdown and understand what the score does and does not cover.

IRS and state notices

Gideon Keep can store and remind you about IRS and state correspondence. We do not speak to the IRS or any state agency on your behalf. We do not file responses. Notice-code recognition is suggestive and may be wrong — always read the actual notice and, for any substantive response, consult a credentialed preparer.

Limitations

Tax law changes frequently. State rules vary. Your individual situation may include facts the software does not capture. The ultimate responsibility for a correct return is yours, in collaboration with your preparer.
